DIY Things You Can Make for Fluffy

July 1, 2017

Is your cat sufficiently spoiled? Cats are very good at convincing their human servants to pamper them a bit. In fact, many of our feline patients are furry little divas! Fortunately, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get your cute pet’s motor going. In fact, there are quite a few things you can make for your kitty yourself! Here, a Carteret County, NC vet lists some things you can make for Fluffy.

Grass Matt

This is one of the easiest ways to activate the purr, though it definitely isn’t the fastest. Start by picking up a spare litterbox. Add soil and cat grass seeds, and make Fluffy a living grass mat!

Beds

There are lots of cute options for making Fluffy a comfy bed. The simplest thing is to simply fold up a soft blanket into a box or wicker basket. You can also use a hatbox or a hard-shell suitcase. If you really want to make a cute, customized bed, repurpose an old end table, the type with doors. Just remove the doors, and put a kitty bed inside. You can decorate it with paint or contact paper to make it look cute.

Cat Trees

Kitty towers are one of Fluffy’s favorite things, and with good reason. They serve as napping spots, manicure stations, and jungle gyms, and also give your furry buddy a great view of her kingdom. You can make a cute cat tower out of an old stepladder, storage rack, or bookcase. Just use planks to widen out the steps or shelves, and then wrap the whole thing in carpet or sisal rope.

Window Seat

This one is super easy! Add a wide board to a windowsill. Choose one that’s big enough for Fluffy to flop and roll around on, and make sure there are no sharp nails or splinters sticking out. You can use Velcro or two-sided carpet tape to attach a kitty bed if you like. Instant happy cat!

Toys

One easy project is to fill baby socks with catnip, and then sew the openings closed. You can also make some adorable playthings out of pipe cleaners. Just be sure never to give Fluffy anything small, sharp, or toxic. Avoid items with dangling threads or ropes as well.
