Grain-free Food Concerns?

You may have seen recent news stories about an FDA study linking grain-free diets to serious health risks for pets. As this article mentions, there is an increased risk of cardiomyopathy for dogs eating foods labeled as grain-free. Your dog is potentially at risk if he or she is eating one of these grain-free varieties.
Dr. Lloyd or a veterinary technician on our medical team are available to discuss your dog’s nutritional needs with you. In general, we recommend “ordinary” dog food without exotic meats or legumes. A higher price is not necessarily an indicator of better nutrition for your dog. If you have questions or would like to set up an appointment to screen your dog for signs of cardiomyopathy or discuss your pet’s diet, please call us at (252) 504-2097
