Behavior problems can affect much more than your pet’s daily routine. Anxiety, fear, reactivity, and other unwanted behaviors can impact your pet’s health, strain the bond you share, and create stress for the entire family. At Live Oak Veterinary Hospital, we’re committed to helping pets and their owners overcome these challenges. That’s why we’ve partnered with Ease, an veterinary behavior specialty service that provides expert support for common behavioral concerns in dogs and cats. Together, we provide evidence-based behavioral care that helps pets and their families throughout Beaufort, Carteret County, and the surrounding eastern North Carolina communities enjoy happier, healthier, and less stressful lives.
Ease is a veterinary behavior specialty service that partners with trusted veterinary hospitals like Live Oak Veterinary Hospital to provide expert support for common behavior concerns in dogs and cats. Through this partnership, your pet can receive specialized behavioral care while your trusted veterinarian remains involved throughout the entire treatment process.
If our veterinary team determines that your pet would benefit from additional behavioral support, we’ll submit a referral to Ease on your behalf. Ease is an independent veterinary behavior specialty service that works in partnership with Live Oak Veterinary Hospital to provide expert guidance for common behavior concerns in dogs and cats.
Once your referral is received, an Ease veterinary behavior professional will contact you within two business days to discuss your pet’s behavior concerns, explain the consultation process, answer your questions, and review any fees associated with their services before you decide to move forward.
Following your consultation, Ease develops a personalized behavior plan and, when appropriate, provides written medication recommendations directly to our veterinarians. Our team remains actively involved throughout your pet’s care, helping implement the recommendations, monitor your pet’s progress, and adjust their treatment plan as needed.
By partnering with Ease, Live Oak Veterinary Hospital can offer advanced behavioral expertise while ensuring your pet continues to receive coordinated, comprehensive care from the veterinary team you already know and trust.
If you’re concerned about changes in your pet’s behavior, the first step is to schedule an appointment with our veterinary team. We’ll perform a medical and behavioral evaluation to determine whether an underlying health condition may be contributing to the problem and discuss the best treatment options for your pet. If additional behavioral expertise is needed, we may recommend a referral to our trusted behavior partner, Ease.
We can evaluate and provide referrals for dogs experiencing:
Please note that Ease does not accept cases involving dog aggression or biting. If your dog is displaying aggressive behavior, our veterinary team will discuss the most appropriate next steps and available resources for these cases.
We can evaluate and provide referrals for cats experiencing:
If your pet is experiencing another type of behavioral concern, we still encourage you to schedule an appointment. Our veterinarians will evaluate your pet and recommend the most appropriate treatment or referral based on their individual needs.
Behavior changes are often one of the first signs that something isn’t right. Anxiety, fear, inappropriate elimination, and reactivity can affect your pet’s physical health, emotional well-being, and your family’s quality of life. In some cases, behavioral changes may even be caused by an underlying medical condition that requires treatment.
Early intervention gives us the best opportunity to identify medical or behavioral causes, develop an effective treatment plan, and prevent unwanted behaviors from becoming more difficult to manage. Depending on your pet’s needs, treatment may include medical care, behavior modification, environmental changes, training recommendations, or a referral for specialized behavioral support through Ease.
At Live Oak Veterinary Hospital, we believe behavioral health is just as important as physical health. Our veterinary team takes the time to understand your concerns, evaluate your pet as a whole, and recommend the most appropriate course of treatment.
When specialized behavioral care is needed, our partnership with Ease gives your pet access to veterinary behavior experts while allowing our team to remain actively involved in their care. We’ll continue working with you and Ease throughout the treatment process to help your pet make meaningful progress and strengthen the bond you share.
